Takeuchi Naoko's Notes:
  • Her costume when she appears in the first episode. (Her costume before she meets the heroine)
  • In the beginning, she acts as a soldier independently in this costume.
  • Her costume after meeting the heroine (when there are five soldiers).
  • She wears a chain belt.
  • Her hands have a yellow manicure.
  • In her chest pocket are student notebook and magic pen.
  • Minato-ku Shiba Park Private Jr. High Uniform.
  • Her eye color before transforming is the same blue as her sailor suit.
  • Normal [weight and frame]
  • Leader
  • History:

First Sailormoon Manga Series (for convenience sake)
Sailor Venus has a longer and well established history by the time we meet her. A seasoned soldier she makes the scene claiming to be the Princess and also the leader, however, since Takeuchi-sensei restarted her manga this changed. In fact this character can be praised for making the rest of Sailor Moon appear.

It is often the misconception that Code Name wa Sailor V preceded Sailor Moon completely. This is not true. Code Name wa Sailor V STARTED before Sailormoon but it also ENDED after Sailormoon. Therefore it ran at the same time that Sailor Moon did, on only on and off. I'm going to have a Sailor V page up in Reveler's Tower some time in the future, you can check for details on Code Name wa Sailor V there.

Black Moon Manga Series (for convenience sake)
She was the only one NOT captured, also she is the only one of the Senshi from the Inner Solar System that doesn't have her own special power. But, she still does have that nifty compact.. but she doesn't use that until later. Anyhow, she as a person isn't developed much more in this series.

    Infinity Manga (for convenience sake)
She sort of disappears into the background. You get more of a sense of her as a Sailor soldier, rather than a person. No history is added.

The Dream Manga (for convenience sake)
Major character development with the exam battle! ^_^ You get to see Minako as Takeuchi-sensei made her in the Code Name wa Sailor V manga, a flake, but someone who wants to have fun. No history was really added, more character development. I think that Minako stays mostly static in this area, because Takeuchi-sensei was pouring most of her history into Code Name wa Sailor V. She does get her heart Crystal and become a Princess, but that's the same with the other Sailor Senshi.

The Stars Manga (for convenience sake)
Sailor Venus? She dies. Sorry... but it's true.. she comes back .. eventually. Sailor Mars saw their death. Nothing else really new.

    Anime:
Apparently, the anime thinks that Minako went to England, because the manga said she went to no such place. It tells about how she met Katrina.. and sacrificed her happiness so that Katrina could be Happy with Alan. Other than that her basic history seems to be the same.

    Personality:

    Manga:
Minako is much more of a tom-boy in the manga than in the anime. She is athletic and sporty and not much of a girly-girl at all. Minako as a soldier has fought longer than the rest of the inner senshi, including Sailor Moon, and appears to take her mission seriously. She is the leader of the senshi of the inner solar system and commands authority from them immediately. She also acts as the double for Princess Selenity when it is required of her. She is less laid back than, say Usagi, who doesn't take her mission or life extremely seriously (she does mature, but that's on her profile). Minako does have some qualms about the pressures on her as leader, and especially in the dream manga we see her insecurities come out.

    Anime:
Minako is less of a tomboy than in the manga, and seems to be more similar to Usagi in personality in this version. She is more sporty than Usagi and consistently mistakes wise old sayings so they are skewed and do not make sense but still conform to fit her situation. The leadership role isn't as focused on Minako in the anime as it is in the manga, and Minako is only vaguely shown as the double for Sailormoon (in the S season).

    NA Dub
Minako is not as much of an airhead as Mina is. Mina tends to have a voicing that sounds more of Minako's surfaces rather than her full character potential. This is probably somewhat to do with voice direction, since it was more prevalent in the second English voice rather than the first.

Both voices had the knowledge of the character, but nothing shows how Mina is on the inside to the full potential there. It's not as bad as with the other English voices, but because the balance is lacking, only the surface traits of Minako come out as Mina. making Mina seem to be all there is to the character. it might have something to do with Emilie trying to make Mina's voice higher and matching that of her previous colleague. But any episodes where they would learn about the full depth of Minako and translate that into Mina were cut in the beginning, so made it hard to know who Minako was in full potential, so it could not show up in the subtleties of their voicing. (I blame a combination of the voice actress and the voice director for not giving them the information needed to make the voicing better.)

    Sera Myu
It depended on who was portraying her. See the Musicals section for more info.

    Why She is So Cool!:
How else could I start off saying besides that she is the FIRST to be created and the first to become a senshi. Besides she is the leader of the inner senshi. Second in command to Usagi of course. Mina-chan may seem a lot like Usagi-chan, but look closer. She's a tomboy and if she wills it she can become even more beautiful than she already is. (not that she needs to be.)
She often misquotes sayings to conform to the situation. I love those things.
She's a little more level headed than Usagi too. I said just a little.

My Tribute Poem to this Magnificent Character:
    Aino Minako/ Mina
    All relatives alive
    No tragedy there
Sailor Venus/ Beautiful Child of Love
    Exuberant tomboy
    Beauty runs deep
Once in love with a general
Kaitou Ace in when Sailor V
    stole your heart
    Oh, the blackness and loss
    But you knew your mission
In the manga some thought you the princess
You lead the inner senshi to victory
    Coming last to new powers
You do have heart and beauty
cause you are the soldier of love
    Sailor Venus
